The Festa
dell'Uva has been the first celebration of the grape-harvest since 1926,
while during the Fiera di San Luca you can enjoy both the traditional
cattle fair, the horses races, the sale of local products and several
cultural initiatives, in a typical popular atmosphere. Thanks to the great
tradition of the earthenware and terracotta kilns, the cotto of Impruneta
has become a characterizing and distinctive element of the architecture
and of the Tuscan countryside, beyond being a famous product exported
all over the world.

Impruneta
The first stop of our itininerary is the enchanting town of Impruneta,
just a few kilometres from the Chianti Road. This big agricultural centre
to the south of Florence nestles between the olive-groves that cover
the hills between the Greve valley and the Ema stream valley. The town's
parish church, originally Romanesque, is located in the wonderful Piazza
Buondelmonti in the middle of the town. Built in the 11th c. on the
former site of an Etruscan sanctuary, Santa Maria all'Impruneta shows
signs of the rebuilding work it has undergone through the course of
the centuries.
